Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I think television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
