Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While competing in online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found playing web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
