Poker Face

Do you ever receive that itch? The itch to gamble, to head to the nearest gambling house, to come across a superior stakes casino game of Holdem, to sit at a Black jack table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I love to scratch it.

I also love to watch individuals gamble. No two poker faces seem alike. When I gamble I like to consider I put on a poker face that’s impenetrable. But I know I have certain personal habits. For 1, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I bet on poker or Black-jack. And then I smoke. But I smoke no matter whether I am winning or losing, no matter if I have a good hand or bad.

I once bet in a very weekly poker game. The game was constantly 5 card draw. There was a guy who played with us just about every week who constantly wore a hat. When he was given a good hand, unconsciously, he would begin touching and wagering with his hat. Pointless to say, he by no means won.

The greatest poker player I ever saw was a player who manufactured much more actions and signals at a poker table than anyone I had ever met. He was impeccable in the way he dressed. Constantly an high priced suit and tie, shoes shined and nails trimmed. He was diligent in this manner. And he was generally brushing his pant leg or holding his hands or stacking his chips in neat little piles.

I use to analyze him for hours on end. I’d attempt to see if I could notice his tell. Selecting lint off his shirt- did this imply he was bluffing? Arranging his chips within a short pile – did this mean he had a great hand?

Years later I bumped into him within a bar in Boston and we had a beverage. I asked him if he have been aware of all those motions he made or if they were subconscious. He informed me that each individual thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everybody is constantly checking out everyone else’s poker face. They are attempting to spot the the tell.

So his system was to give them lots to feel about. His reasoning was if they had been pondering about him picking a piece of fuzz off his coat and what it meant they certain weren’t thinking about their cards.

His program was diversion. And it worked for him. In no way give up a method that operates for you.
