Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player.
