Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
