Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
