Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While betting on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found playing web poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
