No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he loved playing numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really competitive in these particular card games as he was playing his father. After finishing high school, Howard decided to put higher education on hold for a little bit and headed to New York to participate in some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first two years were difficult as he would play countless hours and fail to win a majority of the time. He made some additional cash by being an assistant for the poker players. He believed he possibly could better his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He made an effort to get more rest and focus even more on the game.

The actual advancement in his game began when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable players would regularly wager against each other. He was able to access several of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, he would hone his cunning thinking abilities. He applied these strategic ideas to the game of NL Texas Holdem.

He also helped his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. She was an excellent student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the correct choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Vegas and play in the WSOP tournaments. She is one of the greatest women players the poker world today. Howard moved to Sin City in 1993 and competed in money games for the next decade. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, he made the decision to play more tournaments.
