Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
